I'm interested in the work of the surrealist artist Salvador Dali. He wasn't just a painter, but worked in a variety of media with three main themes: 'Sensuality and Femininity', 'Religion and Mythology', and 'Dreams and Fantasy. His work was influenced by people as diverse as Hitler and Freud.
Some of his more well know pieces include the 'Mae West lips sofa (reproduced in the Mars chocolate TV advert), and the surreal 'lobster telephone'.
I recently visited the Dali Universe exhibition at county Hall in London where 500 pieces of his work are on display.
Here are two of my favourite Dali pictures. Prints are available from the Poster shop.
'Apparition of a face and fruit dish'
'Dream caused by the flight of a bee around a pomegranate one second before waking up 1944'
